Davies & Baird

Flowserve Davies & Baird make steel castings to a maximum weight of 5000 kg.

Castings are made to designated Australian, International, Industry or customer standards. Common standards complied with are AS, ASME, ASTM, DIN, ISO and MIL standards.

STEEL CASTING ALLOYS

  • Carbon steels: Cast carbon steels with a wide diversity of properties, varying from high magnetic permeability to good low temperature impact properties. Weldability is excellent for low to medium carbon grades. Grades are available for surface hardening and others are designed for pressure purposes. Carbon steels include AS2074 C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6 and C7A. ASTM A216 alloys WCA, WCB, WCC are often specified for valves and pumps and LCA, LCB, LCC for lower temperature applications.
  • Pearlitic Manganese steels:
Provide higher tensile strength economically. AS2074 L1A, L1B
  • Abrasion and wear resistant steels:
Carbon-chromium, carbon-chromium-molybdenum, carbon-nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys for applications where wear resistance is of over-riding importance. AS 2074 L2A and L2B are examples.
  • High tensile steels:
These low alloy steels are designed to meet a range of tensile strength requirements over different casting sections.
  • Austenitic Manganese steels:
Nominally 14% manganese steels, sometimes with chromium and/or molybdenum additions. Exhibit extreme toughness and work hardening ability. AS2074 H1A, H1B are included in this range.
  • High temperature steels:
Alloy steels for use at elevated temperatures, often with improved corrosion resistance. Required properties are achieved with specific heat treatments. Grades include AS2074 L5A-H and ASTM WC1, WC6, WC9.
  • Stainless steels:
Martensitic, ferritic and austenitic stainless steels are produced for use in various corrosive and wear environments. Typical standards are AS2074 H3-H7 series or the ASTM grades CA15, CA40, CA6NM, CF8, CF8M.
  • Heat resistant steels:
For applications in excess of 500oC. Like stainless steels, these alloys are high chromium and/or nickel alloys designed to suit oxidising, reducing or nitriding atmospheres, depending on the alloy content. Covered by AS 2074 H8 series.
  • Duplex stainless steels:
The duplex and super duplex alloys have outstanding resistance to corrosion in seawater and chloride environments, whilst providing high wear resistance, strength and ductility.
